NBS TV Cameraman Sirajje Kiberu Brutalized While on Duty, UJA Raises Alarm Over KCCA Impunity

We are disturbed by the belligerent attack on Siraje Kiberu, a camera person with the NBS TV by the KCCA Enforcement Officers in Kampala down town.
Kiberu was badly assaulted by the three uniformed KCCA officers only identified as Kabiito, Ibra and another one in plain cloth whose identity remains unknown, on Wednesday March,4, 2026 at around 600 pm. They rounded him, beat him up and left him with bodily injuries when he was executing his journalistic work.
The only crime that Kiberu had committed to be subjected to that act of torture, was to put on camera those KCCA officers while shielding some reinstated Street Vendors at the road to Kikuubo ,despite the Street Vendor’s eviction from all the city streets last month.
Such practices speaks to impunity and criminality that should never be condoned.
The Uganda Journalists Association (UJA) wants justice to be served for Kiberu and disciplinary actions against those officers.
#Journalism is not a Crime!
