Uganda Journalists Association UJA has been reliably informed that journalist Mukose Arnold Anthony, attached to DigiTalk Media, has been abducted by unidentified plain-clothed men.
The incident occurred on 29, March 2026 Sunday afternoon at around 1pm just outside the main gate of Metro FM 90.8 along Martin Road in Old Kampala, Kampala Central, shortly after he had appeared on air to dissect issues surrounding the recently quashed Computer Misuse Act. According to eyewitness accounts, he was forcibly bundled into a grey Toyota Noah, which then sped off.
As the Uganda Journalists Association (UJA), we strongly condemn this unlawful abduction. Such actions are a direct attack on press freedom, freedom of expression, and the safety of journalists carrying out their professional duties.
We demand the immediate and unconditional release of Mukose Arnold Anthony. Furthermore, we call upon all relevant security agencies to urgently clarify the circumstances surrounding his abduction. Eyewitnesses report that the individuals involved identified themselves as security officers, which raises serious concerns that must be addressed without delay.
We also urge authorities to uphold the rule of law and ensure that the rights and safety of all journalists are protected at all times.
The Uganda Journalists Association stands in solidarity with Mukose Arnold Anthony, his family, colleagues, and the entire media fraternity during this troubling time.
